Coastal Rottingdean

Roll along to Rottingdean! This route follows the coastal cycle path eastwards to the village of Rottingdean. On route you will travel by Hove Seafront, Brighton Pier, and Brighton Marina. Once at Rottingdean you can continue on the path for another mile to visit the famous Saltdean Lido.

 

Route: Hove Station – Brighton Marina - Rottingdean Village - Saltdean Lido
Distance: 6.7 miles (10.8 Km) one way – 13.5 miles return
Gradient: Flat with a couple of gentle hills
Terrain: Mainly tarmac & with some gravel cycle paths
Cycling time: 1.5 - 2 hours

What to see: Hove Seafront, i360, Brighton Pier, Brighton Marina , Saltdean Lido

Coastal Worthing

Go West! This varied route follows the coastal National Cycle route 2 to the seaside town of Worthing. On route see Shoreham Harbour, Shoreham Village and the unique Widewater lagoon nature reserve on Shoreham Beach before reaching Worthing.

If only want to travel one way then hop on the train at Worthing Station to take you directly back to Hove Station.

 

Route: Hove station to Worthing seafront
Distance: 10.8 miles (17.3 km) one way and 21.6 miles return
Terrain: Mainly tarmac
Gradient: Flat (gentle hill back to Hove Station)
Time to allow for cycling: 2-4 hours

Bramber Castle

Breeze up to Bramber! Take the coastal route via Shoreham Harbour as far as Shoreham Village before heading north following the Adur river to the historic Bramber Castle. On route why not take a short detour and visit Shoreham Airport and watch the planes come and go over a cup of coffee and slice of cake.

Distance: 22 miles (35 km) return
Gradient: Flat (gentle hill back to Hove Station)
Terrain: Tarmac & off road cycle track
Time to allow: 2-4 hours
